School-based Youth Health Nurse

The School-based youth health nurse (SBYHN) is a Qld Health Clinical Nurse position who has been a member of the School community since 1999.  The role is to provide Individual, group and class health consultations with assessment, support, health literacy and referral options related to promoting health and wellbeing with a “whole school approach".  The aim is to support the development of a healthy school environment addressing psychosocial, medical, sexual health, sexuality issues, health surveillance, and risk-taking behaviours.  

The SBYHN also provides students with health information and promote enhanced personal skill development offering health promotion strategies and health literacy.  Particularly in youth psychological concerns of, drugs and alcohol, abuse, family conflict and/or abuse, sexual and reproductive health, social and isolation concerns and nutritional advice. 

​The SBYHN office is located at FY02 and students/parents can make appointments directly or call in at any time.  ​
