Leadership Development
At Kirwan High we recognise the need to grow strong leadership of self and others in all levels of our school community, inclusive of all staff and students.
Leadership of self is an individual's capacity to take charge of his or her own life. Leaders of self realise that leadership is not a position or title, but an outlook on life and their role in the world. They give their lives direction by developing a vision for their futures and setting goals and objectives to achieve it. They take responsibility for establishing their own path in life.
Leadership of others is the ability to influence a group towards the achievement of goals and to direct an organisation in a way that makes it more cohesive and coherent. Such a leader has a vision for a better future for the organisation and draws others along with them toward that destination.
Kirwan High offers an extensive leadership program throughout the Junior and Senior secondary schools. All students are encouraged to participate in these activities and camps.
