Kirwan High offers outstanding vocational education programs. One example of this is the North Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy Trade Training Centre. This program allows students to complete their Queensland Certificate of Education whilst gaining high level qualifications in the fields of Engineering and Resources Management.
This project has been supported by the construction of a 2.2 million dollar Commonwealth funded Trade Training Centre which allows students to gain industry qualifications in high tech workshops. Close partnerships with the mining sector and the Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy have enabled the students in this project to complete a range of work experience on site. This ensures that students graduate from school highly qualified and work ready.
