Science is part of the human quest for understanding and wisdom. It reflects human wonder about the world and through a systematic separation of what is 'known' from what is 'unknown,' Science has made advances in technology that impact every aspect of human society today. Students of Science must acquire both scientific knowledge and scientific processes in order to reach deeper understandings of the world.
Students of today are a part of an ever changing world, where scientific knowledge is expanding at a huge rate, and where the applications of this scientific knowledge leads us into a new and better future. Our students of today become the scientists and engineers who solve the problems of tomorrow.
Science offers a variety of learning opportunities through direct teaching, digital formats, and inquiry and discovery-based approaches. Subjects offer weekly experimental based lessons as well as exposure to science through models, displays and other specimens. Group and individual investigation tasks though challenging and extension activities promote the process of high-order thinking.
Science is a core subject for Years 7 to 10 with electives in Years 9 through to 12.
