What is the Global Leaders Academy?
As a member of the Council of International Schools, Kirwan High is committed to developing citizens of the world. As part of our core curriculum all students are skilled to be informed, proactive, global citizens.
The Global leadership Academy provides Kirwan High's global citizens with extensive leadership training, preparing them to be the young leaders of tomorrow. Global leaders value and celebrate the diversity of all humanity. They develop cross-cultural skills and an understanding of international issues. They are socially conscious leaders who are consultative, collaborative and a force for positive change.
Students in the Global Leaders Academy will undergo a program of extension and enrichment including the internationally developed Human Technologies Curriculum. Students will also participate in Service Learning, Coding, Robotics, Brainology, Global Leadership Forums, Writers in Residence Programs and Optiminds. They will collaborate with local and international schools and universities.
Who is eligible?
The Global Leadership Academy is for aspirational, inquisitive students in Year 7 - 10. Students must apply t be part of the Academy by demonstrating:
A strong work ethic.
Well-developed literacy skills.
Strong academic achievement.
Participation in community service within the school and beyond.
We recognise that students develop at different stages and that all students have the potential to thrive. In each semester throughout Years 7 - 10 new students will be considered for the Global Leaders Academy as they grow and develop the attributes required to be part of the Academy.
The Global Leaders Academy is offered to Year 7 in 2017, extending to Year 9 in 2019.
